The movement of living creatures fascinates me. I seek to capture their fluid gestures in stone using simplified planar forms. While sculpting, I focus on the essence and spirit of the subject. I eliminate distracting details, emphasizing continuous linear connections and repetitive shapes. The biggest challenge is to create a sense of living motion in a solid, stationary medium. The highpoint for me is discovering the natural beauty of the stone through the finishing process. Veins, bedding planes and naturally occurring colors emerge and adorn the surface of the sculpture, bringing completion to the work.
